Floored

As always, you've got a way with completely astonishing the ear. I honestly have no idea how you come up with your themes and sounds in your head, much less turn those thoughts into reality.

I agree with KB that some nicely fucked beats would turn this thing out, but at the same time I kind of like the slow build. I don't want to call it stagnation, that sounds like criticism, but it's got this deliciously dirty, cloying sort of feel. Great stuff as always.

Smooth!

Man, I come back after hiatus to find all these great new artists on NG. Very nice track! I'm impressed by the mastering, all the sounds are clear, crisp, and full sounding. Only regret I've got is on the bass, I'd like to hear it pumped quite a bit more. Song's got such a nice, driving feel to it that I really think it would enhance things.

I like the horn sample as well, the discord between the minor third it creates and the major key of the tune adds a depth that's usually not present in happydance like this. I can say without fear of contradiction that this isn't my genre, but I enjoy this a lot. Keep it up!

Very nice atmosphere

I think the rain was a good choice for this one, it definitely has the sort of comfortable, cozy melancholy of a rainy day.

The tune is very nice, gives a sort of rolling, evolving impression the way the bassline moves it all forward while the uppers ramble about. Makes me wish it was longer. Any chance you'll be developing this further? I feel this definitely has the potential to grow, that theme just begs to be built on.

Rawmin responds:

Thank you for your insight. I think you touched on one of the main themes I wanted to convey, which is along with the actual rain, the upper melody is meant to sound like tumbling rain. I have been secretly developing this further :P But not in the way you might think... I wanted to see what would happen if I had this melody play, while a glass-type pad swelled beneath it, and suddenly everything launches into fast paced DnB, with the same melody, and its all coming together rather nicely, so i think I may release it here if I like it.

Just my style <3

Lovely beginning with the folkness, can't say I can put a name to the tune though, not familiar with it. It's a nice one! Which instruments are you playing exactly?

If you're ever up to doing some sort of collab with an irish tune, hit me up. Starving for some decent musicians to work with lately.

Smoooooooth

Man, it's taken me ages to hit you back with a review. My apologies, I haven't been on NG for quite a while, just getting back into the swing of things now.

I can tell that your sound palate is limited with GB, but you still do a great job with the mix and mastering to keep it all cohesive. combines into a beautiful sound. Keep it up!

Wheeeee

Very nice stuff, Solus. The piano is definitely your strength, use it to the fullest, because your composition and (psuedo) playing skills are outstanding. The song's very well constructed, all theoretically correct, and I definitely dig the flow. It seems pretty cyclical, never actually going anywhere in particular, but having a wonderful time doing it, which is no small feat to achieve. I have to say, the trumpets at around 3:40 seem just a little off from the rest of the piece, which is why I can't really give it a perfect ten...but it's sooo friggin close xD Keep it up, fifen'd, fav'd, etc. Luv you :3

SolusLunes responds:

Aww, and the trumpets are definitely my favorite part! :(

But piano is so fun. I love doing piano. Such a versatile instrument.

Luff you too.

Fucking wow...

That really is some mint shit, my friend. The delay is perfect, the sustained almost-chords are both relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I love the freeform shit, and you nailed it. Also, ups on the nice smooth fadeout, and that subtle bass plucking throughout kept it together just enough to keep it from wandering off into wtf land. My only suggestion is, as you said, keep working up those solos. What you've got is perfectly adequate, beyond adequate, but it's just not quite at the "my spine just melted into a puddle of eargasm" level. You're damn close though. Good work, matey, will be watching you in the future.

ChocloMan responds:

omg, you like it more than I do. Thanks a lot, I'll keep doing these thingies, when I get a better cable for my distortion pedal or something.

Thanks for the pointers too.

Crying out for a vocal?

I'm your guy! XD

As usual, I am left speechless by your talent, pitters. Your music makes me want to laugh until I cry and sob my eyes out at the same time. Such emotion concentrated into a single track is rare. You are a god. :D

Cheers

pitbulljones responds:

well i'll try and get some lyrics written for this and see whether you can lay down a vocal. I try to get emotion in my songs, im glad it moved you. and yes, i am a god, no one knows it yet thats all. so keep it between me and you.

Ooooooh

Personally, I don't mind the lo-fi feel...it gives it character. Really great chord movements and tone tweaking on the continual tracks. Great stuff, pitters!

pitbulljones responds:

cheers triskele for the short and beautiful review, lol. i think the lo-fi feel works on this track, tho i don't think it was intentional, excpet for the orppening organ synth which programmed to sound very lofi, tis only 3 chords throughout this song, but sometimes the simplest things work well.

thanks again.

Mischievous orchestral

Delicious, man...like a mixture of the...harlequin...whatever, the theme song to Alfred Hitchcock's show and levas polka. Sweeeet.

I like Renoise because it makes me feel smarter than I really am.
